small doses daily

Video Installation, Site-Specific, 2015

Patarei Prison, Tallinn, Estonia

small doses daily is a five-part multi-site installation integrating vibrant images of the nearby Baltic Sea and surrounding outdoors with decrepit and bare areas of former Soviet-era institution, Patarei Prison.  Video footage is used to transport the viewer from the current location into environmentally immersive scenes that dwell just on the other side of the prison walls. Surroundings that, unfortunately, not many inside had the chance to experience again, except from a window or outdoor cell.

The piece is reflective of the affliction imposed on one's mind and spirit by the restrictive nature of an indoor institution, and the human ability to create spaces of personal refuge to ease away from the overhead.
